Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata has relished about his life in London after his move from Real Madrid during the transfer summer and though he hoped to stay longer at his new club he opened up about the fears of getting replaced by the club in the press conference ahead of their Champions League group clash against AS Roma today, 31st October, 2017.
“I really like London. If I’m good and I improve, I could probably stay here for more than 5 years but I need to score more goals, other wise Chelsea will buy another player, that’s normal” he shared. Morata has scored 6 goals in 10 Premier League games including one goal in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish forward cleared the air about an interview he granted that was misunderstood by insisting that he hopes to stay at Chelsea for a long time because he is happy even though going back home is on the cards when he wants to end his career.
“If Chelsea had proposed a 10 year contract I would have signed it. I’m very happy at this club, in the city and with everything in London..I really like London now but probably in the future when I want to send my child to school, when I finish my career, I would prefer to come back to my country, where I was born, that’s normal” he said.
He insisted that he is fit though after his return, he hasn’t found the back of the net. “Honestly now I’m 100% fit. Probably in the last few games I wasn’t at the best of my physical form but now I’m better. It was a little injury but it was 20 days for me to finally be in a good condition.” he said.
“I prefer to score goals and I always try to find the goal. If I miss chances and the team lose I’m thinking all day about them, but against Bournemouth we got the 3 points” he added. He wasn’t able to score in their clash against Bournemouth on Saturday, 28th October, 2017 but he helped his side pick up the 3 important points by setting up Eden Hazard with the only goal of the match.
