Tennis star, Rafael Nadal‘s long standing unbeaten record in the French Open just got taller as he crushed Stan Wawrinka 6-2, 6-3, 6-0 to win his 10th French Open title which moved him up to become the new world No. 2.
The Clay King is the 1st player to win the French Open on 10 occasions, dropping only 35 games. After a wrist injury forced him out of the Quarter Finals last year he came back better this year to win La Decima. Wawrinka was crushed in all the 3 set as Nadal finished in a perfect feat.
“It’s truly incredible, In the Finals to win the Decima is very very special. I’m really emotional. The feeling I have here is impossible to describe” Nadal reflected. Nadal has 15 grand slam trophy haul in his entire career.
“…You still have a tough moment from injuries, but that’s part of my career though and that makes the things look a bit more difficult but at the same time when you win after all the things, it’s more special”.
Nadal dropped to the floor after his victory and Warinka couldn’t hold back a smile when all Nadal’s 9 previous trophies were announced. “Roger and Rafa, they are good. With them you hesitate. Even though I have a game plan, even though I know what I have to do, there is always some hesitation in your mind… When you play against them, you have to go for your shots and you should think to much” Warinka acknowledged.
