Revealed: Why Spurs And Manchester United Target Ryan Sessegnon Will Be A Fantasy Football MVP

The 17-year-old has been enjoying a stunning season at Fulham and it turns out he would be the highest points scorer in a Championship based Fantasy Football game.

Tottenham Hotspur target Ryan Sessegnon has been adding accolade after accolade to his trophy cabinet this season, winning the Sky Bet Player of the Month for January and being named PFA Player of the Month.

He’s also up for two gongs at the London Football Awards in the Young Player of the Year and English Football League Player of the Year categories, but he’s now got another bow to add to his string.

Ben Mayhew, the head of data analysis at Press Association, has crunched some numbers and it turns out that the Sessegnon would lead the way in a Championship version of Fantasy Football, leading standout players like Derby’s Matej Vydra and Wolves’ Ivan Caveleiro.

Using the points system that the Premier League Fantasy Football game uses, Mayhew has worked out that the 17-year-old wonderkid would have 154 points so far this season – 10 more than Wolves man Diogo Jota, who is the second highest scoring player

Sessegnon would’ve been classified as a left back in the game, and therefore a defender, but Slavisa Jokanovic has increasingly used him as a left forward, meaning his 11 goals and four assists add up for some big points – not to mention the seven clean sheets he’s had in 31 appearances this season.

In the Premier League version of the game, a goal scored by a defender gets six points, an assist gets three and a clean sheet gets a defender four points, while playing 60 minutes or longer gets you two

Spurs boss Maurcio Pochettino is a big fan of the young Fulham man but was unable to sign him in January after Director of Football operations at Fulham, Tony Khan, issued a statement that Sessegnon was going no where.

It’s thought that the north London club will be back in for the Sessegnon in the summer and will face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, although it remains to be seen whether he will leave his boyhood club if they gain promotion to the Premier League.
