The No. 3 men’s tennis star Roger Federer stole the show at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York as he won 5 set of Round 128 of the US Open against Fances Tiafoe on 29th August, 2017. The 5 times US Open Champion after being off with injury for a long period reclaimed his crown as he progressed to the next round with 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 win.
“It was more of a test, it was a good one. It was exciting. I was really struggling early on. I was misjudging the distance, being a bit cautious. I was quite up and down. I didn’t have the preparation I was hoping to get; I always knew I was going to come in feeling rust or not great… it felt like the people were happy to see me again” Rafeal spoke after the game.
The crowd cheered “Roger” as he fueled in more energy against the 19 year old American. After returning from his 6 months injury break, he went ahead to win the Australian Open finals in January by beating Rafael Nadal but he opted out of the French Open to prepare for hard court and grass court tournaments.
“I was maybe a bit worried from the beginning with my back issue, but eventually I was able to let go. If I felt that my back was going to get worse every match, I probably wouldn’t have played. My hope and my belief is that it’s only going to get better” the Swish tennis star spoke about his back pain he incurred during the hard-court finals at Montreal. The back pain made him sit out of the Cincinnati Masters.
